FinTech Luxembourg, birth of a community

Charles-Louis Machuron, founder of the Silicon Silicon Luxembourg site created FinTech Luxembourg. The Kick-off event has been held on Tuesday, January 20, 2015.  “In all major financial hubs such as London to Hong Kong, Singapore or Zurich, communities were created. In Luxembourg, such an initiative was missing. The objective today is to enhance the ecosystem, allowing many professionals in this sector to become to meet under the same banner”, says Charles – Louis Machuron. “That is also why I chose to create an identity, a branding.”

Luxembourg enterprises are the first guests, other players operating within a close radius are also invited. Luxembourg’s FinTech Industry is growing fast and more startups, SMEs or large corporations are innovating in that field. As Luxembourg is the premier private banking centre in the Eurozone and the second largest fund centre in the world, the FinTech sector became one of the Luxembourg government priority for the next years. In Seoul earlier this week, Pierre Gramegna, Minister of finance, had many interviews with companies in FinTech sector. Mission: to present Luxembourg as the ideal ‘hub’ for the development of the activities of these businesses through the European Union… The message will be repeated during the next missions. According to Charles – Louis Machuron, now the concrete ideas should follow as well quicker actions. Hence, the idea of this FinTech Luxembourg community is Organization of an event with the key players in the FinTech landscape. The aim is not only to gather experts for a discussion on the subject, but also to create interaction with participants and encourage them to act and react. Charles-Louis Machuron concluded: “my wish is that we immediately engaging discussion, that one enters into the heart of the matter: Exchange of ideas, actions, networking, etc. The FinTech group is discussing at micro level discussions that are conducted at the highest level of the State and of the representative organizations of the Luxembourg financial sector. To take part in this development and create a strong, cohesive community is the main objective! Of course to develop and continue FinTech Luxembourg relies on the support of partners and sponsors.”
