New technological superlative by Pipistrel – hydrogen powered plane
Pipistrel from Ajdovščina, in cooperation with three partners from Germany, is developing the first plane powered by a hydrogen fuel cell battery system, with water as the only waste product. It can be considered a technological and ecological superlative, as it is the first plane without any harmful emissions.
The Pipistrel company, owned by Ivo Boscarol, the entrepreneur from Ajdovščina, in cooperation with the National Institute German Aerospace Center (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt; DLR), the H2FLY company from Stuttgart, and the University of Ulm, has developed a plane powered by a hydrogen fuel cell, named HydrogenFour – “Hy4” .
It is a four-seater powered by hydrogen and oxygen from the atmosphere, with water as the only waste product. The world premiere, the first flight of the German-Slovenian aircraft, is scheduled for September 29 at the Stuttgart Airport.
