The Slovenian Alpine Museum has won a prestigious award given out by the King Albert I Memorial Foundation from Switzerland for outstanding achievements regarding mountains and the protection of the Alps. The museum plays a pre-eminent role as the national archive of Slovenian alpinism and is an important regional cultural event organizer and promoter of tourism.
Slovenian artist Miha Turšič was honoured by the European Space Agency (ESA) and the new media art festival Ars Electronica with a honorary mention for the Supre:organism project. The project by the co-founder of the Cultural Centre of European Space Technologies (KSEVT) explores artistic practices and methodologies in extraterrestrial space, KSVET wrote in a press release on Wednesday.
A scientist working at the Jožef Stefan Institute (IJS) plans to establish a world leading laboratory for bio-integrated photonics and has recently received a special grant for his project Live and Edible Photonics. Awarded postdoctoral research assistant, Matjaž Humar, said that the goal is to launch a world leading bio-integrated photonics lab. He explained that bio-integrated photonics was a new field with countless opportunities to explore.
