Slovenian start-up LinkedAge recognized by HEC Paris

Students of one of five most prominent MBA schools in the World, HEC Paris, have recognized LinkedAge (network that strongly supports seniors’ activities in a way that makes their active aging process simpler and more efficient) as a great example to present an innovative business model to their professors, the Directors of Sustainable Development and other eminent guests. SMEs in Luxembourg to receive boost with Fit for Innovation

Luxinnovation, the National Agency for Innovation and Research supported a total of 284 companies last year, with some 73 receiving government funding worth 37 million euros and adding 140 jobs to the job market in a one-year pilot project. Around 60 % of the companies supported were SMEs. Under this project SMEs will receive support in reducing costs, increasing productivity and improving the quality of their products through innovation.

The success of small countries and markets

Luxembourg leads the globalization ranking with a score of 0.97. Credit Suisse has published another “Success of Small Countries Report.” In the report, they found that small developed states and separate customs territories were economically more successful that their larger peers and that, importantly, they tended to be more globalized. Small states have clearly become the lead indicators of new trends in the world economy.

The Slovenian Trobla wins over Kickstarter in just two days

Their product is a wooden amplifier for smartphones called Trobla, portable and sustainable solution that enhances your phone’s sound in style and is now ready to take on the world market. Trobla was uploaded on the most well-known web crowdfunding platform on the 7th of April. On the 9th of April the Kickstarter webpage showed that Tok Tok already achieved its goal of raising 10.700 U.S. dollars.

ABC – New Business Accelerator in Slovenia

New business accelerator ABC opened at Ljubljana’s BTC City. Accelerator will connect and create a complete growing environment that will accelerate businesses and grow the economy as well as empower Slovenia’s visibility. The first accelerator program will kick-off on March 30th  with the topic “Smart City”.  Nine companies were selected, among them also LSBC member, low-cost shuttle GoOpti. The second program, which opens in autumn, will be in the field of health.

Luxembourg – SMEs remain optimistic

Small and medium size companies in Luxembourg are confident for their future, according to a study published by Ernst & Young Audit. Some 6,000 European companies, including a hundred Luxembourgish companies, with a turnover between 10 and 500 million euros were surveyed. Senior executives and business leaders from 21 countries were interviewed between November and December 2014.

Slovenian Start-ups collected 60 million dollars of investments only i ...

Altogether Slovenian start-up founders collected together over 130 million dollars of investment, of which 60 million only in 2014 while the number doubles every year. In 2006 only one startup received investment, this year there have been 12. While venture capital funds are leading in term of the value of investments  (more than 93 %), the number of investments are very close in term of private capital, government subsidies, and mass financing.
