Iskraemeco Secures EUR 235M Deal in Netherlands

The Kranj (Slovenia)-based electricity meter producer Iskraemeco has secured a deal with four Dutch companies worth a total of EUR 235m, under which the company will supply at least 1.6 million smart electricity metres. The project of the supply of smart metres in the Netherlands is to conclude in 2020, by which time the agreed amount of units to be supplied is expected to be increased, Iskraemeco said in a press release on Wednesday.

Slovenia Fastest Growing Digital Ad Market in Europe in 2014

Slovenia’s digital advertising market grew at a 43.1% rate last year, the fastest pace in Europe and significantly above the European average of 11.6%, according to Adex, a survey by IAB Europe. The survey shows rapid growth of display advertising and a high share of video ads: at 30.6% it is the highest in Europe, reveals the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) analysis.

Luxembourg is ranked 7th country in Europe and 9th worldwide when it comes to  leveraging information and communication technologies (ICTs) for social and economic impact, according to the latest Global Information Technology Report published by the World Economic Forum. The report, which assesses 143 countries worldwide also ranks the Grand-Duchy as number one for international bandwidth and knowledge-intensive jobs.

Innovative solution wins Slovenian company Hidria deals worth 110 mio EUR

Industrial conglomerate Hidria has closed deals worth 110 mio EUR to supply a diesel-cold start system with pressure sensor glow plug to car makers. Its innovative solution will cut emissions and fuel consumption. The system monitors pressure directly inside the engine cylinder, sending information directly to the engine control unit to adjust in real time fuel injection and other parameters key to optimal combustion.

ABC – New Business Accelerator in Slovenia

New business accelerator ABC opened at Ljubljana’s BTC City. Urban development: Watch a big city centre building project unfold online

The 36,000 square metre structure will be a mixed use building–featuring commercial, office and residential space–and replaces the 40 year old complex that was partially demolished last year. The new building was designed by the architecture firm Foster + Partners with Tetra Kayser, and is expected to be completed in 2018.

Cyberlegs project – World’s first bionic legs

Cyberlegs is a joint project by a number of European institutions, including the University of Ljubljana in Slovenia and was presented on Monday 16th of March. The Cyberlegs project is developing robotic legs that can help amputees move and walk more naturally. Each system is comprised of smart shoes equipped with pressure sensors and inertial measurement units, the limb itself, as well as a component and algorithm that can de-code how the user intends to move.
