Visit to SES from Slovenian delegation
Luxembourg, 9 March 2017. Space Technologies: New opportunities for Collaboration
The Luxembourg – Slovenian Business Club (LSBC), with the support of the Slovenian Embassy in Brussels, organised a visit recently for Slovenia’s renowned technology companies to visit the world’s leading satellite operator, SES, to explore how they can better cooperate and foster creativity and innovation in the space arena.
Slovenia-based companies SkyLabs, Aerium, Cosylab, MDC, and ProNewTech from Luxembourg, visited SES headquarters to understand the capabilities of satellites and how they connect our everyday life. With its more than 50 satellites in Geostationary Earth Orbit (GEO) and 12 in Medium Earth Orbit (MEO), covering 99% of the world, SES is providing services to broadcasters, content and internet services providers, mobile and fixed network operators, governments and institutions, and businesses worldwide. The company is also developing satellite-based solutions for humanitarian aid, e-learning, e-health and e-democracy.
The visit also allowed SES to learn more about the solutions that the Slovenian companies are providing, and the possibilities of working together. There were also discussions about possibilities of cooperation with Slovenian universities to gain access to their research facilities so that the companies and countries can be better equipped to meet future demands of the space industry.
“The visit and subsequent discussions we have at SES paves the way to create links between Slovenian Universities’ research facilities and SES. Merging the knowledge of Slovenia and Luxembourg will allow us to better respond to future ESA programs,” said Roland Streber, CEO of ProNewTech, Luxembourg.
“The meeting progressed in a very open and collaborative spirit, and we are very enthusiastic to further develop with the SES how we can collaborate in the future,” said Igor Križnar, Business Development and Co-owner, Cosylab.
